Circular external fixation using the Ilizarov apparatus combined with the internal bone transport or compression-distraction techniques were used to treat 37 cases in 34 patients with fractures, nonunions, infected nonunions and congenital
deformities.
There were 25 males and 9 females with an everage age of 40.3 years, 8 cases in 7 patients were treated with only external fixation. 9 cases in 7 patients of the nonunion without infection were treated with corticotomy distraction average 3 cm
lengthening, the other nonunion without infectionn cases were treated with rigid Ilizarove appratus fixation with compression & distraction of non union site because of hypertrohic non-union.
10 cases in 9 patients infected nonunions were treated with sequentrectomy, and then corticotomy & lengthing average 2.5cm. 1 case of the tibia vara was treated with corticotomy & deformity correction.
